Do you get a fever with norovirus?

Really bad stomach cramps and vomiting since morning have me wondering if it's norovirus. I feel generally unwell but don't have a high fever. Is it common to get a fever with norovirus, or can you have it without one?

Do not follow random diet advice online for stomach bugs. While a mild fever can happen with norovirus, severe vomiting can cause dangerous dehydration, so consult a doctor for proper ORS guidelines.

A low fever often comes with norovirus along with loose motions. You can have light rice water and coconut water, but if the fever goes very high or you can't keep liquids down, see a doctor immediately.

According to the gastroenterologist I consulted, a low-grade fever occurs in about half of all norovirus cases. The primary focus of clinical management must be fluid replacement, not just fever reduction.

In my experience, stomach flu viruses like norovirus do cause a mild fever, but it usually clears up in 48 hours. Just rest fully and keep sipping salt-sugar water slowly.

Yes, your body temperature might rise slightly as your immune system fights the virus. Skip the gym completely and focus on hydration with electrolyte drinks until your gut heals.
