Do you do cpr for a heart attack?

My father has a history of heart problems, and I want to be prepared for any emergency. I know CPR is for cardiac arrest, but if someone is having a heart attack, should you also perform CPR on them, or only if they stop breathing?

Look, if the person is conscious and breathing during a heart attack, you do not do CPR. Just make them sit comfortably, loosen their clothes, and call the ambulance immediately. CPR is only done if they lose consciousness and stop breathing completely.

I was actually reading about this yesterday because of all these sudden cardiac arrest cases in the news. Apparently, a heart attack is not the same as cardiac arrest; CPR is only needed if the heart actually stops beating and they pass out. It is good to know the difference.

If a person is having chest pain but is awake, do not start CPR. Instead, give them an aspirin if they aren't allergic and get them medical help. Once they recover, focusing on a low-cholesterol, heart-healthy diet is key to avoiding such emergencies.

No, you only perform CPR if the person collapses, becomes unconscious, and stops breathing. For a conscious heart attack patient, just call an ambulance immediately.

I am not a doctor, but from what I understand, CPR is only for when the person is unresponsive and not breathing. If they are awake and having a heart attack, please just call an ambulance and don't try CPR. It could do more harm than good.

Great question! CPR is only for when the heart stops pumping completely and the person is unconscious. If they are just having chest pain, keep them calm, give them fresh air, and call emergency services right away.

Bro, never do CPR if the guy is awake and talking to you. I took a basic first-aid course last month, and they clearly told us CPR is only for unresponsive bodies with no pulse. If they are conscious, just get them to the hospital fast.
