Do you always run a fever with strep throat?

My daughter has had a really sore throat for a couple of days now, and the doctor thinks it might be strep. But she doesn't have any fever, and I always thought strep throat always comes with high fever. Is it possible to have strep without one?

Don't trust random internet blogs saying you must have a fever for it to be strep. You can have a severe bacterial throat infection without running a temperature, and trying random home remedies won't cure a bacterial infection. Please get a proper throat swab and consult a real doctor to verify.

Strep throat is literally like having a tiny cactus stuck in your throat, and trust me, it doesn't always ask for a fever's permission to torment you! I had it last year and could barely swallow water, but my temperature was perfectly normal. Go see a doctor and get it sorted, no need to suffer!

Strep throat can happen without a fever, but getting a throat culture test is the only way to be 100% sure. Since lab tests can be costly, I usually consult a local clinic doctor first to see if they can diagnose it clinically, which saves some money. Plan your clinic visit early to avoid complications.

Over the years, I've seen many people get strep throat without running any fever at all. The key signs are usually sudden, intense throat pain, difficulty swallowing, and swollen neck glands. Don't wait for a fever to develop; a quick visit to your family doctor can save you days of throat pain.

My daughter had terrible strep throat last term, and she didn't have any fever, just very red tonsils with white spots and a lot of pain while eating. We kept giving her warm soups and soft foods to help. Please get a pediatrician to look at their throat directly, as they can diagnose it quickly.
