Do you always get a fever with an ear infection?

My son has been complaining about ear pain, but he doesn't have any fever right now. Is it possible to have an ear infection without always running a fever?

Sometimes minor blockages or mild fluid buildup can cause pain without any fever at all. I usually use a warm compress near the ear for some quick comfort, but if there is any fluid leaking or the pain is sharp, you must consult an ENT doctor immediately.

Nahi yaar, aesa zaroori nahi hai ki fever aaye hi aaye. Mujhe last month severe ear pain tha par fever bilkul nahi tha, haan thoda heavy heavy lag raha tha head mein. Agar dard zyada hai toh doctor ko check kara lo na, don't wait for fever.

I had a sudden earache during a busy week and kept waiting for a fever to decide if I should take sick leave. Turned out it was a proper infection and my doc said waiting was a mistake because fever doesn't always show up. Better to book a quick video consult with an ENT and get the right drops early.

At my age, I keep a close eye on any symptom, and I can tell you that ear issues can happen quietly without any fever. I had some dull throbbing last year, and my doctor checked my BP first, then the ear, and found mild irritation. Get your routine checkups done and let a doctor look inside the ear with an otoscope.

I totally understand how stressful it is when your body feels off and you keep checking your temperature. Honestly, I once had a terrible ear blockage and ache with zero fever, which actually made me panic more thinking it was something else. It is very common to not run a temperature, so take a deep breath and just let a doc check it to ease your mind.

In my experience, mild congestion can pressure the ear canal and cause deep pain without showing any fever. Practicing light pranayama like Bhramari helps gently soothe head pressure, but please keep a close check on it. If the ache persists for more than two days, it is best to let a general physician examine the inner ear.

No, it's not a rule that you must have a fever. An outer ear infection or mild fluid accumulation behind the drum often just causes pain, itching, or a clogged feeling without any temperature rise. Keep the ear dry, don't put any random drops yourself, and get it checked by a professional if the pain increases.
