Do uterine fibroids cause pain?

Recently, my doctor told me I have uterine fibroids, and I've been experiencing heavy periods and a dull ache in my lower abdomen. I wanted to ask, do uterine fibroids cause pain, or is this discomfort from something else?

Yes, they can cause significant pelvic pain and heavy cramping, but you must get an ultrasound and consult a doctor to confirm. Any unusual abdominal pain should be evaluated by a medical professional to rule out other complications.

I totally get it, the constant dull ache and heavy feeling in the lower belly can be so exhausting. I went through the same painful cycle for two years before seeking help. Please don't suffer in silence, talking to a gynac can give you so much relief.

Yes, they do cause pain, especially during periods. For temporary relief at home, using a hot water bag and taking prescribed pain relief helps a lot, but you must plan an ultrasound soon to see if the fibroid size is increasing.

Listen, it is completely normal to feel scared if you are experiencing pain due to fibroids. Many women have them and manage them successfully. Just promise me you will visit a good gynecologist this week and get a proper diagnosis, okay?

My gynecologist explained that pain depends on the location and size of the fibroid. Submucosal or large intramural fibroids can cause severe menstrual cramps and a feeling of heaviness. She told me that if they grow big, they can press on the bladder too, causing different types of discomfort.
