Do u sneeze in your sleep?
Sometimes I wake up feeling like I've sneezed, but I'm not sure if it happened while I was asleep. Does a person actually sneeze while they are sleeping, or does the act of sneezing usually wake you up first?

Generally, you don't sneeze while asleep because the reflexes are relaxed. In my case, waking up gasping and sneezing turned out to be severe chronic sinusitis which got complicated later. Please consult an ENT specialist to be safe.
Actually, your brain shuts down the sneeze reflex during deep sleep. If you are waking up sneezing constantly, it might be dust allergies, so get a basic allergy test done. Don't spend too much on expensive air purifiers before knowing what you are allergic to.
From what I know, the body suppresses the reflex during sleep. Since I manage PCOS, I know how easily sleep disruptions can affect our hormones, so if you are waking up often due to nasal issues, it's worth discussing with a doctor.
Haha, I was wondering about this too because my roommate claims he sneezes at night. But my biology professor said it's scientifically impossible to sneeze during deep sleep. He must be waking up and forgetting about it.
No yaar, you actually can't sneeze when you are fast asleep because the brain is resting. If you feel like you are sneezing at night, you are probably waking up due to some allergy or AC dust. Clean your filters once!

During deep sleep, the body is in a state of quiet rest, and the sneezing reflex is temporarily paused. Regular practice of Neti and pranayama in the morning can help clear your nasal passages, reducing nighttime dust irritation.
I was just reading a science article about this! Apparently, the motor neurons are relaxed during REM sleep, so your body physically can't sneeze. If you do sneeze, it means you actually woke up for a microsecond without realizing it. Fascinating, right?
