Do u get a fever with pink eye?

My daughter woke up with red, watery eyes this morning, and I suspect she might have pink eye. I'm checking her temperature now. Is it common to get a fever along with pink eye, or is it usually just an eye infection?

I had pink eye during exams last semester and didn't have a fever, just super itchy and red eyes. But my doctor said if it's a viral infection, you might get a mild fever or cold. Better to get eye drops prescribed instead of rubbing them.

My child has very red eyes today and is also running a mild fever. I am starting to worry if the infection is spreading. Has anyone else experienced their kid getting a fever along with pink eye?

Yes, that is correct. While a fever isn't always present, a viral conjunctivitis can definitely come with mild fever and cold symptoms, so consulting a doctor is a good idea.

In my household, when the kids got conjunctivitis, they only had sticky, watery eyes but no fever at all. However, when my husband got it along with a heavy flu, he did run a temperature for two days. That was our experience with it.

Usually, pink eye is just an eye thing with irritation and discharge, but if a virus caused it, you can definitely run a mild fever. I had it once with a bad sore throat. Just wash your hands often and don't share towels, bro.
