Do tuna sleep?

I was watching a show about ocean life and they talked about how some fish never stop swimming. It got me thinking, do tuna fish actually sleep? If yes, how do they do it while moving all the time?

Yes, they do sleep but in a very different way than us. They have to keep swimming slowly even while resting so that water keeps flowing through their gills for oxygen. It is quite fascinating how nature works.

They actually rest their brain while still moving, otherwise they would drown. It is a bit like how we need proper deep sleep for our brain to heal. If you are asking because you are having trouble sleeping yourself, try a cup of warm chamomile tea before bed.

Yes, they do rest, but they can never fully stop swimming because of how they breathe. If you are reading about this late at night because you can't sleep, try warm milk with a pinch of turmeric. It works much better than staring at your phone screens.

They have to swim even while sleeping just to breathe! Honestly, that sounds as tiring as my daily local train commute in Mumbai. Glad we humans can just lie flat on a bed to get our rest.

Yes, they sleep while swimming slowly. Their brains just go into a half-resting state to survive.
