Do trees sleep?

My daughter asked me if trees sleep like we do, and I wasn't sure how to answer her properly. Is it true that trees have some kind of resting cycle similar to sleep?

Our elders always told us never to disturb trees or pluck leaves at night because they sleep. It is a traditional belief that aligns with how they droop their branches at night to rest, which is a beautiful way to live in harmony with nature.

Yes, studies show they relax their branches at night, which is like their own sleep cycle. Just like trees need their rest to stay healthy, getting 8 hours of solid sleep is crucial for us to manage blood pressure and stay fit.

Biologists have found that trees have a circadian rhythm and relax their branches by a few centimeters at night. It is basically a sleep-like state. It shows how important rest cycles are for every living organism.

Actually yaar, trees do go into a resting phase at night! They droop their leaves and branches once the sun goes down to conserve energy. It is so fascinating that even plants need a break.

Man, even trees get to sleep and rest at night while I am awake studying for my college exams. But yeah, they basically shut down their active processes when it gets dark to save energy.
