Do they still make 2 stroke outboard motors?

I'm looking to buy an outboard motor for my small fishing boat, and I prefer the simpler 2-stroke models. Are they still making 2-stroke outboard motors these days, or have they mostly been replaced by 4-stroke engines?

I was actually reading about this yesterday! Globally, many big brands have phased them out because of strict emission norms, but some brands still sell them in specific markets. It seems 4-stroke has mostly taken over now because they are much cleaner.

Since this is a technical query about marine engines, it's best to ask an authorized dealer or a certified marine mechanic who can guide you on the legalities. Just like we consult medical specialists for specific health doubts, experts in marine engineering will know if they are still sold in your state.

Down here in Kerala, traditional fishermen used to use them a lot, but now the government is encouraging eco-friendly alternatives to keep our backwaters clean. If you are having issues with noise or pollution from old engines, it is always safer to upgrade to cleaner tech for your own health and peace of mind.

Honestly, 2-stroke motors are pretty rare now. My uncle has an old boat and he was complaining that getting parts for his 2-stroke is a major headache these days. Everyone is moving to 4-stroke anyway.

They are practically obsolete in most metros and commercial hubs because of emission standards. If you are looking to buy, just get a modern 4-stroke. There is no point investing in old technology that will face service and fuel issues soon.

Hey, don't worry about finding these. While they are still manufactured in a few places for commercial use, the industry is moving towards safer, less polluting options. If you are planning to buy one, just check the local environmental laws first so you don't get into trouble.

Living near the coast, I see this transition closely. Yamaha and a few others still produce them for commercial fishing sectors in certain regions, but for recreational use, they are mostly banned. Go for a 4-stroke; it is much easier to maintain nowadays.

I totally get it, sometimes the old machinery just had a different feel and reliability. But yes, finding new 2-strokes is very hard now due to green laws. It is sad to see them go, but it is better for our air and water quality.

The noise and fumes from those old 2-stroke engines always used to trigger my headaches and shoot up my blood pressure whenever we went boating. I am glad the newer models are quieter. For your own peace of mind and health, stick to modern, quiet engines.

Dekho, straightforward baat hai, environmental rules ki wajah se direct sales bandh ho rahi hain. Ab mostly 4-stroke hi milti hain market mein. Purani mil sakti hai second-hand, par nayi dhoodhna ab mushkil hai.
