Do they put you to sleep for a c section?

I'm expecting my first baby and my doctor mentioned that a C-section might be an option. I'm a bit scared about surgery. Do they put you completely to sleep for a C-section, or is it usually a regional anesthetic?

Normally they don't, they prefer spinal anesthesia so you can hear your baby cry. You should ask your doctor clearly about their standard procedure during your next prenatal visit.

Nope, you're wide awake to welcome the boss of the house! They just numb your lower body so you can hear the first drama cry live.

No beta, they only numb the waist down so you don't feel pain. You will be awake to hold your beautiful baby as soon as they are born.

I was super scared of being awake during surgery, but spinal block is actually very reassuring because you are conscious and know what's happening.

They usually use regional anesthesia. Always discuss any previous back pain or anesthesia issues with the doctor early on to avoid last-minute complications.

Don't stress too much, babe! You stay awake and get to see your baby right away, they just block the pain from the waist down.

They keep you awake with a spinal block! The hardest part is actually fasting before the surgery when you are dealing with those late pregnancy cravings.
