Do they put u to sleep for a root canal?

I've been advised to get a root canal for a bad tooth. My friend told me they sometimes put you to sleep for it, but I'm not sure. Do they actually put you to sleep for a root canal, or is it just local anesthesia?

No, they don't put you to sleep. They just numb the local area with an injection, though my smart watch did show my heart rate went up a bit because of general anxiety!

They only numb your mouth, so you are wide awake. The worst part is not being able to eat your favorite hot samosas for a few hours after it's done!

They just numb the tooth area, you stay awake. Try pressing a clove near the painful tooth before your appointment to ease the ache naturally.

When I had mine done last year, the dentist just used a local numbing spray and injection. I didn't feel any pain during the drilling, just some pressure.

It is done under local anesthesia, so you are fully conscious. It takes barely 45 minutes, so you can easily head back to work right after.

In reputed dental clinics, they only use local anesthesia. If you have extreme dental phobia, ask your dentist if they offer nitrous oxide or mild sedation.
