Do steroids make cancer grow faster?

My relative is undergoing cancer treatment, and they are also being given steroids to manage some symptoms. We are really concerned. Is it true that steroids can sometimes make cancer grow faster, or is that a misunderstanding?

No, that is a common misunderstanding. In fact, steroids are a key part of cancer treatment to reduce swelling, control chemotherapy side effects like nausea, and even help destroy certain cancer cells. Always trust your oncologist on this, as they use them very strategically.

Steroids don't promote cancer growth, they actually manage the inflammation and help patients eat better by improving appetite. When my sister was undergoing therapy, her doctor gave steroids to help her digest food and keep her strength up. Focus on clean, home-cooked food alongside the medical treatment.

My uncle had brain tumor treatment and was put on high-dose steroids to reduce the fluid pressure in his head. It didn't grow the cancer at all, it actually saved him from severe headaches and seizures. Don't worry about those online myths.

I totally get it, reading the word 'steroids' in your prescription can make you worry so much, especially when dealing with cancer. But please be assured they are given to reduce brain swelling, ease pain, and manage chemo symptoms, not to make the disease grow. They are actually highly supportive.

At this age, reading medical leaflets only gives me high BP! But seriously, steroids are the unsung heroes in oncology to keep patients comfortable and pain-free. They don't speed up the illness, though they might make you want to eat a whole buffet at midnight.

Nahi yaar, aisa bilkul nahi hai. Cancer therapies ke side effects manage karne ke liye doctors khud steroids dete hain, toh cancer badhne ka sawaal hi nahi hota na. Aap bina darr ke apne doctor ki advice follow karo.

My mother was given steroids during her chemotherapy cycle and it really helped with her energy levels and kept her nausea away. They are strictly used to help you cope with the treatment, not to worsen the condition. Keep asking your medical team questions to ease your mind.
