Do statins affect the liver?

My friend who also takes statins mentioned that her doctor always checks her liver function. I'm a bit concerned now because I also take statins for my cholesterol. Do these medicines generally have an effect on the liver?

I literally spend hours worrying about this because my dad takes statins daily. While they can sometimes cause a temporary rise in liver enzymes, my doctor told me it's usually harmless and monitored through routine blood tests. Please don't panic, but do keep up with your scheduled liver function tests.

Our body has a beautiful way of healing itself when we stay positive and calm. Statins can affect the liver slightly in some cases, which is why doctors do regular checkups. Trust your doctor, take your medicines with a peaceful mind, and take care of your health.

At 54, my liver has survived years of festival sweets, so a tiny statin tablet isn't going to destroy it overnight! Yes, they can occasionally raise liver enzymes, but your doctor will catch it during regular blood tests. Just don't skip your routine checkups.

In the clinic, we regularly advise patients starting statins to get a baseline Liver Function Test (LFT) done. A mild, asymptomatic elevation of liver enzymes is common and often goes back to normal on its own. Just ensure you do your follow-up tests as prescribed by your doctor.

Yes, they can affect liver enzymes in rare cases. Please make sure to get regular Liver Function Tests (LFT) done under your doctor's guidance.
