Do soft drinks cause kidney stones?

Mere chacha ko recently kidney stones hue the, aur doctor ne unhe soft drinks kam karne ko kaha. Main regular consumer hoon, toh kya soft drinks aur kidney stones ke beech koi direct connection hai?

I am actually quite new here and was searching for this because my brother was diagnosed with a small stone. Someone told us that the phosphoric acid in dark sodas can cause stones to form. Does anyone know if transparent sodas like Sprite are also dangerous, or is it just the dark colas?

Yes, they absolutely do, and anyone who tells you otherwise is wrong. Soft drinks are loaded with fructose and phosphoric acid which increase calcium oxalate in your urine, leading to painful stones. Stop drinking these and start drinking 3-4 liters of plain water daily if you want to keep your kidneys clean.

My doctor warned me about kidney stones because I drink a lot of packaged drinks, and now even a small lower back pain makes me super anxious. Has anyone else felt a dull ache in their back after drinking sodas? I am always terrified that a stone is forming inside me.

Don't panic too much. While soft drinks do increase the risk of kidney stones due to their high sugar and acid content, having one occasionally won't harm you instantly. Just make sure you balance it by drinking lots of water throughout the day to flush out any toxins. Take care of yourself.

Bro, my roommate had to be rushed to the hospital last semester because of a kidney stone, and the doctor literally yelled at him for drinking Red Bull and Coke instead of water. Ever since that day, our whole hostel room has stopped stocking cold drinks. Trust me, you do not want that pain, it is not worth it.

I always go to Apollo Hospital for my family's checkups, and during my husband's last ultrasound, the urologist clearly explained that carbonated beverages significantly raise the risk of kidney stone recurrence. Please consult a qualified urologist who can guide you based on your personal body chemistry and stone risk factors.
