Do sleep masks dry your eyes?

Maine raat ko light block karne ke liye sleep mask lagana shuru kiya hai. Ab subah meri aankhein thodi dry lagti hain. Kya sleep mask se aankhein sookh jaati hain?

My daughter started using a tight sleep mask and her eyes became very dry and red. We realized the mask was pressing against her eyelids and preventing natural blinking during sleep. Switch to a loose, 3D contoured cup mask, it is much safer for kids and adults alike.

Many online influencers claim sleep masks are completely harmless, but tight elastic can irritate your eyes. If you wake up with dry or sticky eyes daily, stop using it immediately. Go to an ophthalmologist to check if it is causing any corneal pressure or infection.

I also faced this issue when I started using silk eye masks. To fix it, I put a drop of pure rose water or cool cucumber slices on my eyes before sleeping, and switched to a looser mask. Also, washing the mask twice a week is very important to prevent dust allergy.

I already suffer from dry eyes due to my thyroid issue, and using a tight sleep mask made it worse. Sometimes dry eyes are linked to internal health issues, so don't just blame the mask. Get your regular thyroid and eye checkup done to find the real reason.

Using synthetic materials on the face can block natural breathing of the skin and dry the eyes. It is better to use a soft, organic cotton cloth lightly placed over the eyes, or practice Shavasana to relax your mind. Let your body rest in its natural state without tight bands.

Haan, if the mask is too tight, it stops air from reaching your eyes and makes them dry. I just use a soft clean handkerchief over my eyes to block the morning light. It feels very comfortable and doesn't cost anything or cause any harm.
