Do redheads feel more pain?

I saw a reel on Instagram recently claiming that redheads actually feel more pain than others. Is this true or just a myth? I'm quite curious about it.

I agree with the general view that genetics play a role in pain. Just ensure you discuss any pain sensitivities with your dentist or doctor before any procedure.

I used to ignore minor pain differences until I had major complications during a root canal because the local anesthesia wore off too fast. If you feel your body reacts differently to pain, please discuss it with your doctor beforehand. Don't take it lightly.

Actually, some studies do suggest they need slightly higher doses of certain anesthetics due to genetic receptors. It's a real pharmacological observation, not just a myth. Just inform your treating doctor or dentist about your pain tolerance history.

I don't know much about the medical side of this, but my cousin has red hair and she always struggles at the dental clinic. She always tells the dentist beforehand that she needs an extra dose of numbing gel.

Whether someone feels more pain or not, getting unnecessary genetic tests to find out is just a waste of money in my opinion. Better to invest that money in a good health insurance policy that covers pain management and hospitalization costs if needed.

Honestly, right now with only three hours of sleep, my whole body is in pain regardless of my hair color. I think exhaustion makes any pain feel ten times worse, so maybe we all just need a good eight hours of sleep first.

From what I've seen in the gym, pain tolerance mostly depends on your physical conditioning and mental strength. Regular strength training and a clean protein-rich diet do wonders for how your body handles physical stress and recovery anyway.
