Do pumpkin seeds cause kidney stones?

My father loves eating pumpkin seeds as a snack, but he recently had a kidney stone. We heard from a neighbour that pumpkin seeds might contribute to them. Is there any truth to this? Do pumpkin seeds cause kidney stones?

No, they don't cause kidney stones. In fact, they are rich in potassium which actually helps prevent them.

Pumpkin seeds are a cheap and healthy snack, much better than costly almonds. But if you already have a history of stones, getting an ultrasound test done for 1000 rupees is better before making changes to your diet. Plan your medical expenses wisely.

I completely understand how stressful it is to worry about every single thing we eat causing health issues, I used to be terrified of kidney stones too. But rest assured, pumpkin seeds are actually quite safe and don't typically cause stones if eaten in normal amounts.

I ignored minor back pain thinking it was just gas, and it turned out to be a large kidney stone that required surgery. Don't waste time researching seeds online. If you have any lower back or side pain, go get a proper checkup immediately.
