Do potatoes cause kidney stones?

I've had kidney stones in the past, and I'm very careful about my diet now. I love aloo sabzi, but I'm worried it might be contributing to stone formation. Do potatoes cause kidney stones, or is this just a myth?

I just got treated for a 6mm kidney stone last month. Potatoes actually contain oxalates, which can contribute to calcium oxalate stones if you eat them in huge quantities. My doctor advised me to limit high-oxalate foods like potatoes and spinach and drink at least 3 liters of water daily.

To prevent kidney stones, drinking fresh coconut water and barley water (jau ka paani) regularly is very helpful. Potatoes are safe in normal meals, but if you feel any sharp pain in your lower back or side, please go to a doctor immediately.

Bro, don't stress too much! Potatoes are not going to give you kidney stones overnight. Just make sure you are drinking enough water daily to flush out your system, and you can enjoy your aloo without guilt.

I have eaten potatoes in some form almost every day of my 66 years, and my kidneys are perfectly fine. Stones usually happen due to lack of water and overall body chemistry, not just because you ate potatoes. Eat in moderation and live peacefully.

Potatoes are a great source of clean carbs for workouts. Unless you have an existing kidney condition, they won't cause stones. Just stay active, drink plenty of water, and keep a good workout routine to keep your metabolism high.

Potatoes do have some oxalates, but they are not the main cause of kidney stones. Don't worry too much about it. Just try to eat a balanced diet and stay well hydrated throughout the day.

No need to stop eating potatoes completely. If you are prone to stones, just boil the potatoes and discard the water before cooking because that removes a lot of the oxalates. Simple and practical solution without giving up your favorite food.

If potatoes caused kidney stones, I would have a quarry inside me by now! I absolutely love potatoes in every form. Just enjoy your food and keep drinking water, don't overthink every bite.

I eat aloo paratha almost every second day at my PG. I don't think potatoes cause kidney stones directly unless you are completely dehydrated all the time. Just drink your water and stay chill!

I was reading up on this because my dad has kidney stones. Potatoes have moderate oxalate levels, so eating them occasionally is totally fine. It’s only an issue if your doctor has put you on a strict low-oxalate diet.

I manage my diet very carefully due to my diabetes, and I track everything. While potatoes are high in carbs and can raise blood sugar, they won't cause kidney stones unless you have a history of high calcium oxalate buildup. It’s always best to balance them with green fiber.

My grandmother always said to add a pinch of cumin and ginger when cooking potatoes to prevent gastric issues. However, regarding kidney stones, our family doctor said only excessive consumption of oxalates combined with low water intake is risky. Potatoes in normal amounts are perfectly safe.
