Do pilots sleep on long flights?

I often take long-haul flights for work, and I always wonder how the pilots manage to stay alert for so many hours. Do pilots actually take short naps or sleep during very long international flights, or do they have strict rules against it?

Yes, they absolutely do! On ultra-long flights, they have bunk beds to sleep while the co-pilot takes over. It is just like how we need to stretch and walk around on long flights to keep our circulation going.

I used to get so much flight anxiety thinking about pilots getting tired. Finding out they actually have strict, mandated sleep rotations in special crew bunks made me feel so much safer and calmer during my travel.

Haan ji, they have two or three pilots on big planes so they can take turns sleeping. God forbid they stay awake for 15 hours continuously, they are human after all and need rest just like us.

Haan na, otherwise how will they fly safely for so many hours? There is a proper system where they sleep in shifts inside a special cabin. It is necessary for their focus and health, ho na.

Everything in this universe requires rest to function beautifully, and so do our pilots. They are blessed with resting cabins on long flights to recharge their minds. Stay positive and trust that the system takes good care of them.

My cousin is an international pilot and he recently showed me pictures of their hidden rest quarters. They have proper beds and are legally required to sleep for a few hours on flights over 10 hours. It is very well-managed.
