Do nyquil pills make you sleep?

I've been down with a really bad cold and cough for the past few days, and it's making it very difficult to sleep at night. A friend mentioned that Nyquil pills can help you sleep. Is that true, do they actually have a drowsy effect?

Yes beta, they do make you sleepy because they have medicine for cold and cough which causes drowsiness. But please don't take them daily just for sleep. Drinking warm milk with a little turmeric before bed is much safer for regular use.

They will knock you out for sure, but the hangover the next morning is terrible. It is meant for severe cold relief, not for regular insomnia. Grab some chamomile tea or ask a doctor for a proper melatonin supplement if you can't sleep.

Yes, drowsiness is a primary side effect of NyQuil due to its active ingredients. However, using it strictly as a sleep aid is highly discouraged because it can lead to dependency and liver strain. It is best to consult a physician to address the root cause of your insomnia.

They definitely make you drowsy because of the antihistamine in them, but using a cold medicine as a sleeping aid is not a good idea. If you are struggling with sleep, try turning off your phone screen an hour before bed and keeping your room dark. It works much better and is free of side effects.

Please don't make the mistake of self-medicating with cold pills to get sleep. I used to do this to cope with work stress and it completely ruined my natural sleep cycle and digestion. Go see a doctor and get your sleep issues diagnosed properly before it gets worse.

Yes, they cause deep sleep, but honestly, reading about the side effects on the liver makes me so anxious. What if your body gets used to it and you can't sleep at all without it? Please be very careful and talk to a doctor before taking any such heavy pills.
