Do nsaids reduce fever?

My child has a fever today, and I'm trying to decide what medicine to give. I know NSAIDs are good for pain, but do they also help in bringing down a fever? I just want to make sure I'm giving the right thing.

Yes, NSAIDs like ibuprofen are very effective at reducing fever. They block the chemicals in the body that cause inflammation and raise your temperature. Just make sure to take them after food to avoid stomach irritation.

Yes, they do. NSAIDs work on the hypothalamus in the brain to bring down your body temperature. However, for a simple fever, paracetamol is usually the first choice as it is gentler on the stomach.

My family always suggests sponging with cool water first, but if the temperature is high, NSAIDs do help bring it down. However, my doctor always advises not to self-medicate if the fever lasts more than three days.

While they do reduce fever, don't just take any random NSAID you find in your cabinet. Different fevers (like dengue) require specific medications, and some NSAIDs can be dangerous. Verify with a doctor before taking them.

Haan bhai, bukhar kam karne me yeh dawaiyan bohot asar karti hain. Lekin khali pet mat khana, pet me jalan ho sakti hai. Thoda khana khane ke baad hi dawai lena.
