Do not induce vomiting?

I was watching a first-aid video online, and it mentioned something about *not* inducing vomiting in certain situations. If someone accidentally swallows something poisonous or harmful, should one *never* try to make them vomit? When is it safe or unsafe to induce vomiting?

Yes, my doctor always warned never to induce vomiting if someone swallows household chemicals, acids, or petroleum. It can burn the food pipe on the way back up and get into the lungs, which is extremely dangerous. Take them straight to the hospital.

Oh yeah, in first-aid training they told us never to force someone to throw up if they swallowed poison. It can cause choking and make things way worse. Just run to the emergency room immediately.

Please, never try to force vomiting. I once tried to induce vomiting after food poisoning and ended up tearing my esophagus, which caused severe internal bleeding. It is highly dangerous, so please see a doctor immediately instead of doing this.

Absolutely, do not induce vomiting if a toxic substance is swallowed. It can cause chemical pneumonia if it enters the lungs. This requires urgent professional medical attention, so go to the hospital right away.

Correct, do not force vomiting. If someone has ingested poison or battery acid, forcing them to throw up will cause double the damage. Rush them to the nearest clinic or call an ambulance immediately.
