Do nicotine pouches cause gum cancer?

Since I started using nicotine pouches, a friend mentioned that they can be really bad for your gums and might even cause gum cancer. I'm getting a bit worried about this specific risk. Is there a strong link between nicotine pouches and gum cancer?

Beta, anything chemical kept in the mouth for hours will harm the delicate skin inside. Tobacco-free pouches might not have the main cancer chemicals, but they irritate the gums terribly. Rinse your mouth with warm salt water and try to reduce these habits.

I've been using these pouches for a year to stay off cigarettes. They don't cause cancer because there is no tobacco in them, but they definitely make your gums recede and feel sore if you use too many. Keep a check on that.

Please be very careful. I used nicotine products for years and ended up with severe gum infections and lesions that required a biopsy. If you notice any white patches or bleeding in your gums, go see a dentist immediately.

These chemical pouches can ruin your oral microbiome. Since they are tobacco-free, the direct link to oral cancer is extremely low, but they still cause gum inflammation. It is better to focus on a clean antioxidant-rich diet and raw vegetables to keep your mouth healthy.

I totally get it, when you are trying to stay away from smoking, you worry if the alternative is going to cause gum cancer instead. Fortunately, tobacco-free pouches don't have the tobacco carcinogens, so the risk is very low. Just watch out for general gum irritation.
