Do naps count as sleep?

I'm often quite tired due to my work schedule, so I take short power naps during the day. I'm curious if these naps contribute to my overall sleep requirement. Do naps count as sleep, or are they just a temporary boost?

I used to sleep four hours at night and take two-hour naps in the afternoon, and my health became a total mess. Naps do count as rest, but your body needs uninterrupted cycles at night to heal. Limit your day naps to maximum thirty minutes, and keep them before 3 PM.

Yes, a short nap of twenty minutes can really refresh your brain and lower your stress during a busy day. However, it cannot fully replace the deep, restorative sleep you get during a solid eight-hour night. Try to keep them short so you don't ruin your nighttime routine.

In my experience, if I nap for more than forty minutes, I wake up feeling even more tired and groggy. I find that a quick power nap helps my mood, but I always prioritize my regular sleep schedule.

Totally agree with others here. Naps are great for a quick energy boost, but nothing beats a proper night's rest.

With my heavy work schedule, a quick fifteen-minute power nap at 2 PM is a lifesaver for focus. It counts as active recovery, but don't count it towards your total daily sleep target because you miss out on deep REM cycles.

I used to feel constantly tired and rely on long day naps, which I thought was normal. It turned out I had severe sleep apnea that was ruining my health, so please consult a specialist if you constantly feel the need to nap.
