Do muscle relaxers help with nerve pain?

The doctor said I have nerve pain in my leg which causes tingling and numbness, and it's quite bothersome. I'm taking some medicines but wondering if anything else can help. Do muscle relaxers help with nerve pain?

I tried taking standard muscle relaxants for what I thought was back pain, but it turned out to be sciatica. The medicine didn't help at all and I delayed getting proper treatment, which made the nerve damage worse. Please see a neurologist immediately to get the right prescription.

As a diabetic, I frequently get tingling and burning nerve pain in my feet. Muscle relaxants don't target those nerves directly; my doctor prescribed specific neuro-vitamins and nerve medications instead. Keep your blood sugar strictly controlled, as that is the main key to nerve health.

My physician explained that muscle relaxants work on muscle tissue, whereas nerve pain (like neuropathy or sciatica) requires medications like gabapentinoids or tricyclic antidepressants. While a muscle relaxer might help if a tight muscle is compressing a nerve, it is not the primary treatment for nerve issues. Consult a specialist for target therapy.

My son had severe nerve compression after a sports injury. The muscle relaxants only helped him sleep, but didn't relieve that sharp, shooting nerve pain. We had to go for physiotherapy and specific nerve medications to finally give him relief.

For nerve-related issues, warm oil massage with sesame oil helps greatly in restoring circulation, beta. These chemical muscle relaxers will only make you feel sleepy and won't fix the nerve. Eat nutritious food and consult a good doctor.

Actually yaar, muscle relaxers are mainly for sprains and spasms. If you have that burning, electric-shock kind of nerve pain, these pills won't work much. You need to see a doctor because nerve pain needs completely different medicines.

No, they don't directly target nerve pathways. You should ask your doctor for specific neuropathic painkillers.
