Do most older people get fatty liver?

My older sister recently had a check-up and the doctor mentioned she has fatty liver, even though she doesn't drink much. I'm worried now for myself and others in my age group. Is it common for most older people to get fatty liver?

At 50 plus, it feels like every ultrasound report has to mention Grade 1 fatty liver just to be polite! Honestly, with our oily food and sedentary life, it has become incredibly common. Just need to reduce the sweets and fried snacks.

Don't start drinking raw vegetable juices or buying expensive detox pills from the internet to cure fatty liver. Many of these remedies can actually worsen liver strain. Go to a gastroenterologist, get an LFT test, and follow actual medical advice.

You don't need to spend thousands on high-end body scans immediately. A simple Liver Function Test (LFT) and an ultrasound from a local NABL lab will cost around 1200-1500 rupees. Spotting it early saves a lot of medicine and hospital money later.

Yes, it is very common in India now. Cutting down on white rice and doing daily 30-minute walks helps a lot in reversing it.

I completely understand the panic when you see 'fatty liver' on a parent's medical report. I was terrified for my mother last year. But after speaking to the doctor, we realized it is quite manageable with timely lifestyle changes, so please breathe easy.
