Do men get rheumatoid arthritis?

My mother has rheumatoid arthritis, and all the awareness campaigns I see focus on women. My husband has been having joint pain, and I'm worried. Can men also get rheumatoid arthritis, or is it mainly a condition that affects women?

Yes, we aren't made of steel, our joints can get rusty too! It's not just a women's issue, so if your knees are complaining, go get them checked.

Yes, men definitely get it. Autoimmune issues can affect anyone, so getting a proper rheumatologist consultation and regular blood tests is highly recommended.

While it is more common in women, men do get it and often have more severe symptoms when they do. My physician said getting an early RF and anti-CCP test is key to stopping joint damage.

I ignored my stiff fingers for a whole year thinking it was just gym strain, and now I regret it because the stiffness has worsened. Please get a proper checkup if you feel any joint pain.

Yes they do, beta. Don't worry, with modern medicines, it can be managed very well. Just don't delay showing it to a good doctor so they can help ease the discomfort early.
