Do kidney stones hurt more at night?

I've been dealing with kidney stone pain for a few days, and I've noticed a pattern. The pain seems to get much worse at night, especially when I'm trying to sleep. Do kidney stones hurt more at night, or is this just my perception?

Many people find that the pain spikes late at night or early in the morning. My father suggested it might be because we drink less water while sleeping, making the urine more concentrated. However, always trust your doctor for proper pain relief timing.

Yes, they absolutely can keep you awake because the pain often peaks when you are lying down. Don't stress too much, just keep your prescribed pain meds and a bottle of water on your bedside table so you are prepared.

Oh man, tell me about it. The pain always decided to peak at 2 AM right before my semester exams last month. It's because you're lying still and not drinking water. Keep a bottle next to your bed!

They definitely hurt more at night, partly because your body is inactive and you are not hydrating. I make sure to drink a glass of water right before bed to keep my system flushing, but definitely follow your doctor's advice on managing night pain.
