Do kidney donors get paid?

I've been thinking about organ donation, and it's such a noble act. I heard a rumour that people who donate a kidney actually get paid for it. Is this true in India, or anywhere else? I just want to understand the process better.

No, they don't get paid at all! In India, selling organs is completely illegal. It has to be a purely voluntary, altruistic donation, usually within close family members.

Absolutely not, buying or selling kidneys is a serious crime under Indian law. Don't fall for any online scams promising money for kidney donation, those are all fake and run by fraudsters.

From what I know, there is strictly no commercial payment allowed for organ donation to prevent exploitation. If you are looking into donation for a family member, please consult a government-authorized transplant coordinator at a registered hospital.

Paying a kidney donor is strictly illegal in India and can lead to imprisonment. If you are being approached by anyone offering money or asking for it for a transplant, report them to the hospital authorities or police immediately.

I understand that financial stress or medical emergencies can make people search for such options, and it must be very stressful for you. However, please know that paid kidney donation is highly illegal and dangerous. Please look for legal financial aid or government medical schemes instead.
