Do infrared saunas cause skin cancer?

I'm considering buying an infrared sauna for my home, but a friend recently warned me about potential health risks. Could infrared saunas cause skin cancer? I want to make sure they are safe before investing.

I am not a doctor, but I have been using an infrared sauna at my gym twice a week for over a year now. I haven't faced any skin issues so far, only some dryness. I just make sure to moisturize well after my sessions.

Please be very careful with any device that uses radiation or deep heat. I once ignored a weird mole on my arm thinking it was just a tan, and it turned out to be a serious skin issue that required minor surgery. If you have any unusual skin spots, get them checked by a skin specialist immediately.

I always prefer natural sweat-inducing methods like a warm bath with a bit of rock salt, it is very relaxing. But if you have any sudden skin darkening, pain, or moles after using these modern saunas, don't try home remedies. Go straight to a proper doctor.

Actually, infrared light is different from ultraviolet rays which cause sunburn and skin cancer, yaar. It doesn't have UV radiation, so it's generally considered safe. But still, overdoing anything is bad, so don't sit in there for hours.

I was planning to book an infrared sauna session at a local spa for my joint pain, but now I am a bit scared after reading about radiation. Is it really safe for sensitive skin, or should I consult a dermatologist first?

I have looked into this topic quite a bit for our community group. Infrared saunas use heat radiation, not the harmful UV rays that cause skin cancer. Just make sure the equipment at your spa is well-maintained and don't go too frequently.

Honestly, why spend so much on expensive saunas and worry about health risks? If you want to sweat and detox, just go for a brisk 30-minute walk in the morning sun or do some physical work at home. It is free and 100% safe for your skin.

I was very paranoid about this because I had a benign skin growth removed last year. My dermatologist explicitly told me that infrared saunas do not cause skin cancer as they use low-energy light. However, she advised me to avoid high heat anyway because of my dry skin condition.
