Do infants get fever when teething?

My little one is cutting her first tooth and has a slight temperature. My grandmother says it's normal to get a fever when teething, but I want to be sure. Do infants really get a fever due to teething, or could it be something else?

A very mild warmth is normal, but if it is a proper high fever, don't assume it is teething. Pediatric visits and blood tests can get quite expensive if things get complicated later. Better to consult a doctor early and save on emergency hospital fees.

Yes, they do get slightly warm and very cranky when those gums are swollen. I used to give my son cold silicone teethers or clean cold washcloths to chew on, which helped a lot. Just make sure you clean the teethers properly to avoid any stomach infections.

Honestly, my 9-month-old is teething right now and between the mild fever and the constant drooling, I haven't slept more than 2 hours straight. It is normal but god, it is exhausting. Just hang in there with some strong coffee for yourself.

The body goes through a lot of physical changes during teething, which naturally creates a bit of internal heat. Try to keep a peaceful environment at home and gently massage the baby's gums with clean fingers. It brings a lot of natural relief.

I am no expert, but in my daughter's case, she only had a very mild body temperature increase, not a high fever. Every time she got a tooth, she would also get a bit of diarrhea. We just checked in with her doctor to be sure.

Between back-to-back meetings, managing a teething baby is tough. To save time and avoid panic, we keep a digital thermometer handy to log her temperature. If it crosses 100.4, it is usually an infection and not just teething, so we immediately book a teleconsultation.
