Do hydrocodone make you sleep?

I was prescribed hydrocodone for a severe toothache a while ago. I noticed that it made me incredibly drowsy and I slept a lot. Is it common for hydrocodone to make you sleep, or was it just me?

Yes, it is a strong opioid painkiller and drowsiness is a major side effect. Never take it without a strict prescription from a qualified doctor, as it is highly addictive. If you are feeling excessively sleepy, contact your physician immediately.

Oh, please be very careful with this medication. I get so anxious about taking strong painkillers because of how heavy and drowsy they make you feel. Make sure someone is around you when you take it, and never drive after taking it.

Strong chemical medicines always have heavy side effects like sleepiness or constipation. I prefer drinking warm chamomile tea or haldi doodh for minor body aches. But if you have been prescribed this for severe pain, follow your doctor's advice carefully.

Yes, it makes you very sleepy because it acts on your nervous system. When I was taking pain meds after my surgery, I used to eat light meals and rest as much as possible. Don't fight the sleep, let your body heal naturally.

It is an opioid analgesic, so sedation and sleepiness are highly common side effects. I track my medication schedule on my phone to avoid any accidental double-dosing. Make sure you discuss any extreme lethargy with your prescribing doctor.
