Do fever blisters pop like pimples?
I have a fever blister on my lip and it's quite big. I'm tempted to just pop it to make it go away faster, but my mom told me not to. Do fever blisters pop like pimples, and is it safe to do so?

They don't pop the same way because they contain watery fluid instead of thick pus. Please don't try to squeeze them, as it will only spread the virus to other parts of your lips. Just apply a ice cube wrapped in a hanky to soothe the area.

Actually yaar, don't even think of popping it. It's not a normal pimple; the liquid inside will just spread and you'll end up with three more blisters next to it. Just apply an OTC cold sore gel and keep your hands off it.
I totally understand the urge to just squeeze it and get it over with, but please don't do that. Fever blisters are highly contagious viral sores and popping them can lead to a painful infection. It's scary, but they do dry up and go away on their own if left alone.

I know how tempting it is to just pop it so it disappears, especially when you feel conscious looking in the mirror. But popping a fever blister actually makes it twice as ugly, painful, and spreads it further. It really broke my confidence when I did that once, so please let it heal naturally.
