Do fever blisters look like pimples?

I have a small bump on my lip, and I'm confused if it's a regular pimple or a fever blister. They look quite similar sometimes. Do fever blisters look like pimples initially, or are there clear differences?

I have a small raised bump on my lower lip boundary that feels quite sore, but it doesn't have a white head yet. Is there any easy way to be sure if it is just a pimple or a fever blister starting? I am a bit scared of using the wrong cream.

I actually had this confusion last month when a bump appeared near my lip. Unlike pimples which are single and have a hard center, my fever blister looked like a cluster of tiny, clear liquid-filled bubbles. Also, it tingle-burned like crazy before actually showing up.

They might look similar from a distance, but fever blisters are actually fluid-filled sores caused by a virus, often triggered when your body is run down or stressed. I always monitor my blood pressure and stress levels because high stress brings these blisters out. A regular checkup with your doctor is best to be sure.

I totally get it, they look so similar at first that it is super easy to mistake one for the other and feel frustrated. Just try not to squeeze it thinking it's a pimple, because if it's a fever blister, popping it will only make it spread and hurt much more.

No, they don't look the same if you look closely. A pimple is just oil and pus under the skin, but a fever blister is a bunch of tiny water bubbles clumped together. Don't go poking it with your fingers, just leave it alone.

Honestly, at 3 AM in this dim light, they both just look like annoying red spots to me. But fever blisters are usually softer, watery, and appear right on the lip line, whereas pimples are more solid and usually stay on the surrounding skin.
