Do fever blisters bleed?

I have a fever blister on my lip right now, and it looks quite angry and red. I'm a bit worried, do fever blisters sometimes bleed, or is it usually just a clear fluid?

I was looking up cold sores online and learned they can definitely bleed if they crack open. This usually happens when the skin gets too dry or if you accidentally pick at the crust. It's best to leave them alone and let them dry naturally.

The first time my fever blister popped and started bleeding, I literally freaked out thinking it was a major infection. But my doctor assured me it's totally normal for them to ooze and bleed slightly when the crust breaks. Applying a little petroleum jelly gently helps prevent that cracking.

They can bleed slightly, but please be very careful. Last year, mine bled heavily and then got a bacterial infection which spread to my chin. If the bleeding doesn't stop or if you see yellow pus and feel severe pain, skip home remedies and consult a doctor immediately.

Bro, they definitely bleed, especially when you yawn or try to brush your teeth. I got one last winter and it cracked open twice because I kept touching it. Just apply some ice gently and don't peel the scab off, otherwise it takes twice as long to heal.

Yes, they bleed if they get dry or if you stretch your mouth too much while eating. A simple solution is to dab a cold, damp tea bag on it for a few minutes to stop the bleeding. Avoid spicy and sour foods for a few days so it doesn't get irritated.
