Do diuretics cause kidney stones?

My doctor has prescribed me diuretics for my blood pressure. I've always been prone to kidney stones, so I'm a bit worried. Can taking diuretics increase the risk of getting kidney stones?

Some diuretics can actually help prevent certain types of kidney stones, while others might increase the risk. Please take care, drink plenty of water, and consult your doctor to understand how your specific medication affects you.

As a strict vegetarian, I always focus on hydration to prevent stone formation, but medications play a big role too. Certain loop diuretics can increase calcium in urine, which might lead to stones. Always discuss your diet and pill routine with your practitioner.

I love my salty snacks, but when you are on diuretics, you have to be super careful with salt intake to avoid putting stress on your kidneys. Some water pills can affect mineral levels, which might lead to stones. Keep drinking lots of water to flush things out!

Haan na, kidney stones ka pain is really scary to even think about. Actually, some water pills help reduce calcium in urine to prevent stones, but it depends on the type. Better to ask your doctor clearly about the medicine they gave you.

It depends entirely on the class of diuretic you are taking; thiazide diuretics actually lower urinary calcium excretion and reduce stone risk, whereas loop diuretics can increase it. Use a hydration app to track your daily water intake if you are on these meds, and consult your nephrologist.

Beta, modern water pills are strong and can affect the kidneys if water intake is low. Drinking barley water or coconut water can help keep the urinary tract clean naturally. But never stop or change your doctor's medicine on your own.
