Do diabetics pee smell?

I've been feeling a bit off lately, and I noticed my urine has a somewhat unusual, slightly sweetish smell. I remember someone mentioning this could be a sign related to diabetes. Does diabetic urine have a specific smell?

Honestly, when my dad's sugar goes way up, there is definitely a weirdly sweet, fruity smell in the washroom. It's like a weird warning alarm that we need to hide the sweets from him. If you are noticing a strange smell, it is probably time to check those sugar levels.

I can only speak from my own experience with my uncle who has diabetes. When his blood sugar was very high before his diagnosis, his urine had a very distinct sweetish smell. I cannot say if it's the same for everyone, but that is what we observed.

It can smell sweet when sugar is high, but a urine routine test only costs around 100 to 150 rupees at any local lab. Better to spend that small amount and get a clear report first. That way, you don't waste money on unnecessary medicines or doctors without knowing the real issue.

Yeah, I read in my bio class that when sugar levels are super high, the body throws out excess ketones through urine, which can give it a fruity or sweet smell. If you are worried, just tell your parents and get a quick test done at a local lab, simple!

Hey, don't worry too much about this, but don't ignore it either. If the urine smells sweet or fruity, it is just your body's way of saying it needs a checkup. Just book an appointment with a general physician and let them check it out properly.

A sweet or fruity odor in urine is often associated with glycosuria or diabetic ketoacidosis, which requires medical attention. However, dietary factors and dehydration can also cause changes in smell. It is best to consult a doctor to get an accurate diagnosis.

Yes, a sweet or musty smell in urine is a common indicator of uncontrolled diabetes due to ketones or excess glucose. Don't waste time trying to guess the cause. Schedule a quick morning home-collection lab test so you don't even have to miss office.
