Do diabetics have an odor?

My aunt told me that sometimes diabetics can have a particular kind of smell, which might indicate something is wrong with their sugar levels. Is it true that people with diabetes can have a specific body odor or breath? I'm curious if this is a real thing.

I totally get it, noticing a strange odor can make you feel very self-conscious. My father had a distinct sweet smell on his breath when his sugar spiked. Getting his diabetes managed made the odor go away completely.

Hey, don't stress too much about this. Yes, sometimes if sugar levels are very high, the breath can smell a bit sweet or fruity because of ketones. Just keep tracking your glucose and you will be completely fine.

I tried using mouthwashes and special herbal teas for my husband's sweet breath, but nothing worked until we brought his blood sugar down. It is a internal chemical thing due to high glucose. Be practical and focus on controlling the sugar.

The body releases unique sweet odors when there is an internal metabolic imbalance. I have experienced that eating a simple diet and doing regular pranayama helps detoxify the system. Please do consult your doctor for proper medical monitoring, too.

Actually yes, my uncle had this sweetish, fruity breath which we later found out was due to high sugar levels. It is quite common but shouldn't be ignored. Just get a quick fasting sugar test done to check where things stand.

Do not buy expensive body sprays or trust random herbal remedies online to cure this smell. A fruity breath odor is a clinical indicator of high ketone levels in diabetes. Go to a hospital and get a proper blood and urine analysis done.

My husband ignored that fruity breath odor for weeks until he suffered from a severe medical crisis called DKA. It is a highly dangerous sign of uncontrolled sugar. Please see a doctor immediately to prevent any life-threatening issues.
