Do diabetes cause itchy skin?

My father, who is diabetic, has been complaining about constant itchy skin, especially on his legs. We thought it might be due to dry weather, but then someone said diabetes itself can cause itching. Is this a common symptom of diabetes?

Yes, poor circulation and dry skin from diabetes can cause severe itching. I go to a specialist clinic for my dad's checkups, and they told us to never ignore skin changes. You should definitely ask your doctor clearly about this in your next visit.

Oh, absolutely! Sometimes I feel like a monkey scratching myself all day because of my fluctuating sugar levels. It is quite common because high sugar dries out the skin, so keeping a good moisturizer handy is my daily routine now.

I was just reading up on this because my uncle has been complaining about itchy feet lately. Turns out high blood glucose can cause poor blood flow and yeast infections, which lead to itching. It is definitely a known symptom of diabetes.

I totally get it, that constant itching can be incredibly annoying and uncomfortable. My mother faced the exact same issue when her diabetes wasn't controlled. Keeping the skin moist and getting her sugar levels in check made a huge difference.

Beta, high sugar dries up the body's natural moisture, which causes this itching. You can apply a little pure coconut oil ghar pe after a bath to soothe the skin. But please make sure you check your sugar levels with the doctor regularly.

Dekho, seedhi baat hai, sugar level jab upar neeche hota hai toh skin dry ho jati hai aur itching hoti hi hai. Isko halka mat lo. Turant doctor se milkar sugar check karvao aur skin care start karo.

Yes re, it happens! My skin becomes drier than a papad when my sugar goes up, leading to all that scratching. Just drink lots of water and apply some basic lotion, but keep an eye on your glucose reports too!
