Do dentists say you have cavities when you don't?

After my last dental check-up, the dentist said I had two cavities, but I don't feel any pain or discomfort. It made me wonder if sometimes dentists might wrongly tell you that you have cavities, even if there aren't any. Has anyone else experienced this?

Some commercial clinics definitely do this to meet their targets. Before agreeing to expensive fillings, spent 300 rupees on a second opinion at a local government hospital or a trusted family dentist.

Bro, yes! One fancy clinic told me I had three cavities and quoted a bomb. I went to a local clinic instead, and the doc said my teeth are perfectly fine, just needed a regular cleaning.

Instead of guessing or asking online, always ask the dentist to show you the cavities on your X-ray. A professional will have no issue explaining the decay areas to you clearly.

I totally get it, it feels so bad when you feel your trust is being misused. It is very common to feel confused, so definitely seek a second opinion from an older, established practitioner.

With my age, my teeth have seen it all. Some dentists are definitely a bit too eager with their drills! If you aren't in pain, there is no harm in taking a few days to get a second opinion.
