Do contractions feel like period pain?

I'm a first-time mom-to-be, due in a few weeks, and I'm really anxious about labor. My mother-in-law said contractions feel just like really bad period pain. Is this accurate, or is it different?

Actually yaar, early ones do feel like very bad period cramps. But as time goes on, they get way more intense and wrap around your entire lower back, so you will definitely know the difference.

I totally get it, the anxiety of not knowing what to expect is real. It starts like that familiar dull ache but becomes much tighter, like a wave. Just keep your hospital bag ready and stay calm.

Early contractions are exactly like menstrual cramps, but they get highly structured and timed. Track the interval between them using an app, and once they are 5 minutes apart, just head straight to your doc.

Period pain? More like period pain on maximum volume with a heavy metal band playing in your uterus! But don't worry, the minute you hold your baby, you somehow forget all of it.

Initially yes, they feel like regular cramps. You can try a warm shower to soothe the mild ones, but if the pain is regular and accompanied by water leaking or spotting, please go to the hospital immediately.
