Do cold showers help you sleep?

My friend swears by cold showers, saying they give her more energy and even help her sleep better at night. I'm struggling with my sleep schedule. Do cold showers really help you sleep, or is it just a placebo effect?

I struggle with insomnia due to PCOS hormonal imbalances, and I tried cold showers at night. Honestly, they woke me up more because of the sudden shock to the system. Lukewarm water worked much better to relax my muscles before bedtime.

A calm mind brings peaceful sleep, my friend. While a cool shower can wash away the physical tiredness of the day, a warm bath or foot wash is usually better before bed as it relaxes the body. Keep your thoughts positive before sleeping and sleep will come naturally.

I tried taking a cold shower last night to sleep better but my heart started racing and I couldn't sleep for hours! Has anyone else experienced this? I thought it was supposed to calm you down but it did the exact opposite for me.

Poor sleep can often be linked to thyroid fluctuations, which affect your body's temperature regulation. Taking cold showers might just make you feel uncomfortably cold if your thyroid is low. Please get your TSH levels checked and discuss your sleep issues with your doctor.

I completely understand how frustrating it is when you can't sleep and feel anxious about your health. Cold showers actually stimulate the body and increase alertness, which might make sleep harder. Try a lukewarm bath instead, it lowers your core temperature gently and signals your brain to sleep.

Before trying fancy sleeping routines, check if you have any vitamin deficiencies like B12 or D3, which affect sleep. Basic blood tests cost around 800-1200 rupees and are totally worth it. For me, just a simple wash of the feet with normal tap water works fine without needing geyser heat.
