Do cavities need to be filled?

I noticed a small cavity in one of my molars, but it doesn't bother me much right now. A friend told me small ones sometimes go away on their own if you maintain good hygiene. Do all cavities definitely need to be filled?

Look, they won't heal on their own. If there is a hole, it will only get bigger and eventually need a costly root canal. Go get it filled now and save your money and pain.

Please get it filled. I ignored a tiny black spot for a year because it didn't hurt, and it ended up destroying the tooth structure. I regret not getting a simple filling done when it was easy.

Unless you want your tooth to become a tiny storage unit for daily food particles, yes, get it filled! It is a quick process and much better than waiting for the tooth to start playing drums in your head.

I was so anxious about getting my first filling, worrying about the pain and the drill. But honestly, it was so fast and didn't hurt at all. Getting it filled is much safer than leaving an active infection in your mouth.

I used to panic thinking fillings were some major surgery. It's actually a very routine, 20-minute procedure. Once it's filled, you don't have to worry about the decay anymore, so just go get it done.

I was researching this because I have a tiny cavity and was hoping it would just go away with good brushing. But every reliable source says once the enamel is broken, only a dentist's filling can restore it.

I can only share what happened to me. I had a small cavity that didn't bother me, but the dentist advised filling it to stop the decay from spreading. I got it done, and the tooth has been perfectly fine since.
