Do cavities hurt after being filled?

I just got a cavity filled yesterday, and the tooth is still quite sensitive and aching a bit, especially when I bite down. Is it normal for a freshly filled cavity to hurt for a few days, or should I be worried and contact my dentist?

Haan, thoda sensitivity toh hoti hai boss, especially cold water peene se. Mera toh do-teen din tak thoda ajeeb lag raha tha par fir normal ho gaya. Agar zyada dard ho toh doctor se baat kar lo na.

A little sensitivity for a couple of days is normal and doesn't cost anything to manage—just avoid very hot or cold foods. However, if the bite feels uneven and hurts, go back to the dentist to get it adjusted. Most dentists don't charge extra for a quick bite adjustment.

Yes, the tooth can be quite sensitive after all the drilling and pressure. I found that rinsing with lukewarm salt water really helped soothe the nerve irritation. Give it a few days to settle down naturally.

Mine hurt for over two weeks, and when I finally went back, it turned out the decay was too deep and needed a root canal instead. If your pain is sharp or getting worse instead of better, don't wait. Go back to your doctor immediately.

Mild sensitivity is normal and can be eased by avoiding ice cold water and chewing on the other side. But if you experience throbbing pain or swelling, home tips won't work. Please visit your dentist to check if the filling is too high or needs adjustment.
