Do cavities cause gum recession?

My dentist recently mentioned I have some gum recession, especially near my older fillings. I'm wondering if cavities, or the damage from them, can directly lead to the gums receding like that. Do cavities cause gum recession?

Over the years, I have learned that cavities and gum issues go hand-in-hand. While a cavity itself might not directly pull the gums down, the bacteria causing the decay certainly damage the gum line. Keep your teeth clean and don't panic, it is manageable with a dentist's help.

Actually, it's usually the other way around. Gum recession exposes the root, which then gets cavities easily. But yes, severe decay can also ruin your gum health. Get it looked at by a good periodontist.

I was literally obsessing over this last week because I saw my gums shifting slightly near a cavity. I got so scared that my teeth would fall out! My dentist reassured me that treating the cavity and cleaning the tartar stops the recession, so please don't stress too much.

When my gums started receding near a bad molar, I tried gentle oil pulling with sesame oil to soothe the area. It helped with the gum sensitivity, but the cavity still needed a professional filling. Try to be very gentle when brushing that spot.

A healthy body requires mindfulness in all aspects, including oral hygiene. Plaque buildup causes both cavities and receding gums, as the tissue reacts to toxins. Along with regular dentist visits, try massaging your gums gently with a drop of virgin coconut oil.

Haan na, if there is a lot of bacteria accumulation, the gums can start moving back. It is better to get a proper cleaning done at the clinic before it worsens.
