Do carbonated drinks cause kidney stones?

I'm a big fan of soft drinks, often having one every day with my lunch. My cousin recently got kidney stones, and his doctor told him to cut down on carbonated beverages. Do carbonated drinks actually cause kidney stones?

Yes, they absolutely do, especially dark colas because they contain phosphoric acid. I ignored my soda habit and ended up with a painful 7mm kidney stone that required a painful procedure. If you have lower back or side pain, please see a doctor immediately.

Bro, my doctor told me that soda is basically a kidney stone starter pack because of the phosphoric acid. I have literally replaced my late-night colas with water now because I cannot deal with that level of back pain, I already don't sleep enough!

These modern packed drinks are full of acids and sugars that strain the kidneys. Drinking barley water (job's tears) or fresh coconut water daily helps flush out the system naturally. Avoid soda completely and drink plenty of plain, warm water.

No need to buy expensive detox juices to clean your kidneys. Just stop buying those costly soft drinks, and drink 3-4 liters of tap water that has been boiled and cooled. Adding a squeeze of fresh lemon daily is cheap and helps prevent stones.

Omg, my senior in hostel had to be rushed to the hospital at midnight last semester because of a kidney stone, and he used to drink energy drinks and sodas daily. It scared me so much that I've completely cut down on aerated drinks now.

Haan na, phosphoric acid in colas is really bad for kidneys. My cousin had a stone because of this habit. Drink lots of plain water and avoid these packed drinks, it is much safer.

Aerated drinks increase calcium excretion, which directly leads to stone formation. I make sure to stay fully hydrated with water during my daily 5km brisk walks. Staying active and hydrated is the best natural defense against stones.
