Do braxton hicks feel like period pain?

I'm in my third trimester, and lately I've been having these strange uterine tightenings. My doctor said they might be Braxton Hicks contractions, but they sometimes feel a lot like my period pain. Do Braxton Hicks really feel like period pain?

Don't rely on online forum descriptions to judge if you are in actual labor. Braxton Hicks are usually painless tightenings, but if they feel like intense menstrual cramps, you must call your doctor to be safe.

I ignored severe tightening thinking it was just Braxton Hicks, but it was actually early labor. Please don't take any chances; if the cramps become regular or painful, contact your gynaecologist immediately.

My obstetrician explained that Braxton Hicks are irregular practice contractions that shouldn't grow in intensity. If you feel actual menstrual-like cramping accompanied by lower back pain or any leaking, it could be actual labor. Contact your doctor.

They usually feel more like a tight squeeze across your tummy rather than actual painful period cramps. Just lie down on your left side and drink a big glass of water, they usually pass. Don't worry, you are doing great.

For me, they just felt like my tummy turned into a hard basketball for a minute. It was a bit weird but not really painful like my monthly periods. Keep tracking them and stay relaxed.
