Do bearded dragons sleep with their eyes open?

I have a bearded dragon and sometimes when it's resting, it looks like its eyes are still open. Is it possible that bearded dragons sleep with their eyes open? It's quite strange to observe, so I thought I'd ask.

They normally close their eyes to sleep. If you are noticing strange sleeping habits or extreme fatigue in any pet or even yourself, it could be metabolic. Just like I have to get regular thyroid panels done to manage my energy, pets also need systematic veterinary checkups to find out what is wrong.

I don't know much about foreign pets, but creatures usually close their eyes when they rest to feel safe. If your pet looks awake but isn't moving, it might just be resting. Take care of the little one.

My son has one of these in his room and we noticed this too! They actually sleep with their eyes closed, but if they feel some movement nearby, they might open one eye slightly to check for danger. Don't worry, it's just their natural instinct to stay safe while resting.

No way, they definitely close their eyes when they sleep. If yours is staring blankly with open eyes, it might just be basking or daydreaming. They look super funny when they do that, totally spaced out.

Honestly, they usually sleep with eyes shut, looking like they've gone into a deep food coma after eating a big bowl of greens! If they are staring with open eyes, they are likely wide awake and probably waiting for their next snack.

Typically, healthy bearded dragons sleep with both eyes closed tight. If you notice yours keeping eyes open at night, check the room for any ambient light or noise that might be disturbing them. A quiet, pitch-black environment is best for their nightly rest.

I've raised reptiles for five years and they should definitely close their eyes to sleep. If yours is sleeping with eyes open, check the humidity and temperature of the tank immediately. Sometimes eye infections or poor lighting cycles cause this issue, so correct the setup first.

I totally get it, it can be so unnerving to see them staring blankly when they are supposed to be resting. Usually, they close their eyes fully when they sleep. If they aren't closing them, they might just be light resting or stressed by some noise around the house.

Wait, do they really do that? I thought mine was sleeping with eyes open yesterday and it completely panicked me. Has anyone else noticed this with their pets, or should I be rushing to a clinic?

Healthy bearded dragons require dark, undisturbed cycles to sleep with closed eyes. If you observe them keeping their eyes open during their designated sleep cycle, it could indicate stress or an environmental issue. Consulting a specialized veterinary doctor is always the best path forward.
