Do bananas cause migraine headaches?

I suffer from migraines quite often, and I'm trying to figure out if any specific foods trigger them. I eat bananas regularly. Could bananas be a trigger for migraine headaches in some people?

Bananas are generally very good for health, but in some people, eating overripe bananas can trigger a headache. This is because they contain a natural substance called tyramine. It is better to eat fresh, yellow bananas and keep a food diary to see what suits your body.

My son gets severe migraine attacks, and his doctor told us that overripe bananas can sometimes act as a trigger due to high tyramine levels. We switched to giving him fresh bananas that are just ripe, and it hasn't caused him any trouble since then.

I totally get it, trying to figure out what is triggering your migraine can be so frustrating and painful. While bananas are a trigger for a small percentage of people, they actually help others due to their magnesium content. Try tracking your diet for a few weeks to be sure.

I get migraines quite often, but bananas have never been an issue for me personally. In fact, eating a banana when I feel a headache coming helps sometimes because of the quick energy and magnesium. It really depends on what triggers your own body.

Haan na, migraine is so unpredictable! For some people, even simple things like a banana can trigger it if the fruit is too ripe. Better to observe your patterns, and if you feel uneasy after eating one, just avoid it for a few days to check.
